Discover the perfect blend of tradition, elegance, and warm hospitality at Devon Pixies.
Accessibility information
Devon Pixies is committed to providing equitable access to our cafe and high tea experience. With advance notice we can accommodate a range of individual needs. To ensure the best experience, please notify staff of any individual needs at time of booking or planning a visit. Patrons accompanied by guides, hearing and assistance dogs are welcome at our venues. We ask that all dogs wear their working vest identifying their assistance roles.
> Mobility
Devon Pixies has full mobility access from the precinct car park, where there are dedicated car parks with wider spaces, and sloped access to the footpath. Our ramp starts at the rear of the cottage, closest to the carpark, and leads to our takeaway window and wraparound verandah. Orders can be taken at the table rather than at the cafe service window. All food is served to the table, unless a takeaway option is preferred.
Guests have the option of transferring to our wide, comfortable verandah chairs or heading inside the cottage room. We have two inside tables that can be raised up to allow a motorised wheelchair to be directly at the table. Devon Pixies has one large accessibility bathroom, with a baby change table, additional bathrooms and adult change room are located in the main Butter Factory Building, approx 50m from Devon Pixies Cottage.
> Hearing Impaired / Deaf
We have descriptionary cards available about the cottage, Devon Pixies history, and our high teas. Our cottage has low background noise, unless there is a large group booking seated. For hearing impaired guests, we can communicate through signs (some basic auslan), and one to one order taking.
> Vision
Tactile ground markers are in place at either end of our ramp access, and our staff are on hand to read out the menu and describe the cakes and sweets in the cake cabinet. Our menus are able to read by text to talk readers.
> General
For guests that require a low sensory environment, we recommend booking a table inside the cottage room. Low level classical music plays in the background, lighting is soft and it is not a high traffic area. Verandah dining sounds will include general passing people chatting, the sounds of the trains on the main Brisbane Train line, incidental traffic noise, and occasionally sound checks from the main outdoor stage.
> Dietary
If you have a specific need or requirement, please contact us directly in advance of your arrival so that we can make appropriate arrangements. We can cater to gluten free / low gluten, lactose free, dairy free, vegetarian, and vegan dietary requirements. Our kitchen is not certified for kosher or halal. Devon Pixies has one MIXED USE kitchen and while all care and correct food handling procedures are followed, we cannot guarantee a 100% allergen free product.
Please do not bring your own food and drink without specific prior arrangements.
